GARLICSMITHS HARDNECK GARLIC CULTIVARS

Our hardneck garlic cultivars belong to the subspecies Allium Sativum Ophioscorodon. They form broad leafed, vigorous plants which produce a flower stalk. There are three distinct families of hardneck garlic which are commonly called Rocambole, Porcelain, and Purple Stripe.

ROCAMBOLES
Rocamboles are the most richly flavored of all garlics. They have large easily peeled cloves and a relatively short storage life. They require very cold winters to perform well and tend to do poorly in southern climates. One pound of Rocambole bulbs will yield about 45 plantable cloves. Please CLICK HERE to see the Rocamboles we offer.

Our Rocamboles are priced at half pound $9 and one pound $16.

PORCELAINS
Porcelains have the largest and the fewest cloves of all the garlics and produce the largest plants. They may grow well in both warm and cold climates, and their large bulbs can store twice as long as Rocamboles. One pound of Porcelain bulbs will yield about 35 plantable cloves. Please CLICK HERE to see the Porcelains we offer.

Our Porcelains are priced at half pound $9 and one pound $16.

PURPLE STRIPES
Purple Stripes have the most beautifully colored bulbs of all the garlics and are renowned for their excellent flavor when roasted. They are very productive, they keep moderately well and they are the best performing hardneck garlics in southern climates. One pound of Purple Stripe bulbs will yield about 55 plantable cloves. Our Purple Stripes are priced at half pound $9 and one pound $16.
